GP Cellulose to Plant 10,000 Longleaf Pine Seedlings with One Tree Planted

GP Cellulose is excited to partner with One Tree Planted on another longleaf pine habitat restoration project on private lands in the US Southeast this year. This project will directly engage landowners in southern Georgia to actively manage existing longleaf pine stands as well as establish 10,000 longleaf pine seedlings which will improve habitat for many imperiled species.

Through this project, our focus is to assist landowners with further education, training, and implementation of prescribed fire in support of longleaf pine habitat restoration. We also plan to encourage best management practices within this area including the use of mowing and mulching, and regular thinning to promote growth, positively impact area water quality, and carbon sequestration.

Georgia-Pacific has a long history of supporting efforts that contribute to the restoration of longleaf pine forest and their associated flora and fauna.  These unique forests are home to nearly 900 species and can be as biologically dense and diverse as a tropical rain forest, making restoration of longleaf habitat a priority for a company committed to “Growing Responsibly.”

GP Cellulose’s commitment to growing responsibly and sustainably includes these types of conservation partnerships and we look forward to this and future tree planting projects.
